Cabin Fever’s Rustic Style
is coming home to nest!
The “Rustic Style” is becoming more popular than ever before.
Serving as settlers' cabins, log homesenjoyed a phenomenal popularity in the late nineteenth century.
Wealthy families such as the Vanderbilt's, Guggenheim's, and Carnegie's summered in areas as remote as they could
find, building what were euphemistically called camps. Those less affluent, following the era's prescription for
fresh air and simplicity, traveled to even more rustic hotels and vacation cabins to get their share of the refreshing woods.
And now,
a mixture of antique, rustic, and primitive country styles seem to be sweeping the country in popularity.
One of the fastest ways to add a dose of interest to a home is to bring in some texture. Rustic
furnishings do that with charm and style. It also offers the opportunity to set out some of your
families generations of keepsakes.
Rustic used to mean 'rickety and cheap', but rustic style is all grown up and
now borders on sophisticated and trendy.
Beautiful woods, polished logs, and twiggy
charm has made rustic one of the most popular styles in the market today. And even with all of that
popularity and charm, it is, thankfully, one hot trend that is still easily affordable. If
you love the look of rustic furnishings, you don't have to live in a cabin to enjoy the rustic
theme. These trendy furnishings bring a homey flavor, charm, and appeal to interiors in city apartments and country
homes alike. Deliberately rustic, the style suggests a more relaxed, informal style of living. It’s comfortable,
relaxed, homey, and can be interesting in detail with a little imagination. Some homes offer such imagination, it’s
like entering a museum of furnishings from the past. And what a load of fun it is to decorate like this.
An item you might consider is the now popular “candle by the hour”. It has brought that North-woods Rustic Style to the rustic decorating industry. Inspired by a design dating from the 1600s, this coil candle is beeswax, which
helps to clean the air when it burns.
